The Travelers Companies (NYSE:TRV) is expected to report Q2 earnings before the market open on Thursday, July 30 with a conference call scheduled for 9:00 am.
Analysts are looking for EPS of $1.28 on revenue of $6.17B. The consensus range for EPS is $1.21-$1.36, while the consensus range for revenue is $5.98B-$6.54B, according to First Call. On June 4, Travelers increased its 2009 operating income guidance to $4.55-$4.95 from $4.50-$4.90, due to an increase in assumed share repurchase activity.
After attending Travelers' investor day on June 4, Oppenheimer wrote that the company's business continues to generate stable returns. In addition, the firm believes that Travelers will be hurt less by the credit crunch than some of its competitors.
Travelers replaced Citigroup (NYSE:C) in the Dow Jones Industrial Index on June 8. Since joining the index, the stock has gained about 10.25%.
