Cramer's Mad Money - Don't Bet Against Boeing (6/26/13)

Includes: BA, HON, PCP, UTX
by: Miriam Metzinger

Stocks discussed on the in-depth session of Jim Cramer's Mad Money TV Program, Wednesday June 26.

CEO Interview: Jim McNerny, Boeing (NYSE:BA)

Boeing (BA) has triumphed over problems with its planes earlier in the year and the threat of sequester. Boeing is a major exporter; "We can sell to almost anybody," said Jim McNerny. Although some countries hostile to the U.S. may refuse to buy its planes for defense, "Don't bet against us," McNerny added. When asked about the battery issues with Boeing's planes, McNerny replied that the problem has been fully resolved. "We rolled up our sleeves, got to work and solved the problem."

One problem BA faces is that there is a shortage of engineers in the U.S. McNerny says Boeing funds programs to encourage people to pursue an engineering career, but the resolution to the issue may be through immigration reform to bring more qualified engineers into the U.S. While competition with its European counterpart, Airbus, is "tough when we are fighting for a customer," it is still "friendly. I know these guys and they know me." McNerny expects Boeing to outperform Airbus; "We are going to be the winners in this industry." When asked if Boeing is in the process of creating a Concorde-like plane that can travel to Europe in 3 hours, McNerny replied it isn't a major priority, because not enough consumers are willing to pay dramatically higher airfare for such flights, even if they take half the time.

Aerospace Is Taking Off: Honeywell (NYSE:HON), United Technologies (NYSE:UTX), Precision Castparts (NYSE:PCP)

Cramer dedicated Wednesday's Mad Money program to the theme of aerospace, which is a long-term bull market. Given the rising price of jet fuel, airlines find it essential to update their fleet, since the new planes use 20% less fuel. Boeing (BA) has been a major beneficiary of this trend. In spite of the fact that some of its planes were grounded because of battery issues and the Dreamliner release was delayed, the stock has risen 33% so far this year. Other stocks that benefit from the aerospace bull market are United Technologies (UTX), Honeywell (HON) and Precision Castparts (PCP).
