Rentrak Corp. (RENT) launches Cablevision (CVC) trial

Rentrak Corporation (RENT) announced the beginning of a one-year trial of its OnDemand Essentials service on Cablevision's system.

OnDemand Essentials tracks and reports on Video-On-Demand usage data.  Cablevision leads all U.S. cable networks in terms of digital penetration; 50% of Cablevision's subscribers have switched to digital cable.

Quick comments:  Launching a trial does not guarantee business later on, but it is a step in the right direction.  Other cable networks that are testing OnDemand Essentials for VOD include, Comcast (CMCSA) and Insight Communications (ICCI); Music Choice (MUCEF) is testing it for music applications.  For a recap of RENT's recap latest quarter, click here.
