Canadian Solar (CSIQ) was the best performing Chinese solar stock in 2012 and it is showing similar performance in 2013 as well. The company is a major manufacturer of crystalline silicon solar panels and has most of its manufacturing facilities located in China. The company saw a sharp fall in its stock price post the 2008 IPO boom, as panel ASPs crashed due to huge over-investment in China. Solar module prices fell by almost 90% in the last 5 years, leading even the lowest cost solar manufacturer to bleed money.
