IPG Photonics: Why You Should Buy This Laser Company

Major industrial operations such as steel cutting, oil drilling, product manufacturing, and welds, cuts, marks, or engraving of metal all require a high-power laser. That's where IPG Photonics (IPGP) has carved its niche with fiber laser technology. The company faced a decline in 2009, due to a fall in sales of the material processing market by 25%, due to global recession. However, the next two years were much better as manufacturers in Asia, especially China, registered growth in mid power and high power fiber lasers. In 2011, the company's net sales were $474.5 million, more than double of the net sales of 2009.
