A Quietly Prosperous Insurer
One sector that I spend a fair amount of time looking over is small-cap insurance. I try to find companies that are trading under book value with no debt obligations and boasting consistent underwriting profits (reflected in a combined ratio under 100% for property and casualty based insurers). I also look for high levels of ownership in addition to a stable or increasing dividend.
