Over the past five years or so, Laredo Petroleum Holdings, Inc. (LPI) has operated as an independent energy company focused on the exploration, development, and acquisition of oil and natural gas primarily in the Permian and Mid-Continent regions of the United States, or U.S.
In May, Laredo announced that the company had signed an agreement with various affiliates of EnerVest, Ltd. to sell all of Laredo's interests in properties and assets in the Anadarko Basin. Since this divestiture announcement, the company now considers itself a pure-play oil company in the Permian Basin (see below Permian Basin - Laredo Petroleum July 2013 Corporate Presentation).
