Genesco (NYSE:GCO) is a specialty retailer that sells headwear, sports apparel, footwear and accessories in North America and Great Britain. The company operates roughly 2,500 stores under various brand names that are organized under the Journeys, Schuh, Johnston & Murphy and Lids umbrellas. The company has been forced to close many of its stores under various brand names in recent years as chronic underperformance from some of them has caused a drag on the larger company's profitability. However, the small store operator has also been aggressively acquiring new locations in order to grow its brands in the most responsible way.
