Blue Coat FY Q1: Edges Estimates, Names New CFO

Blue Coat Systems (BCSI) Tuesdsay afternoon posted slightly better than expected results for its fiscal first quarter ended July 31.
For the quarter, BCSI posted revenue of $116 million and non-GAAP EPS of 23 cents; the Street had been expecting $115.8 million and 22 cents. Revenues weer up 2% sequentially and 13% year over year.
For the second quarter, the application delivery networking company sees revenue of $116 million to $121 million, and non-GAAP profits of 23-28 cents a share. The Street had been expecting $120 million and 24 cents.
Also, Blue Coast announced that Gordon Brooks has been named SVP and chief financial officer, Brooks had been VP-corporate finance at VMware (VMW). Before that he was CFO at SpikeSource, and corporate controller at BEA Systems.
Brooks fills a slot vacated in March by Kevin Royal, who became CFO at Maxwell Technologies.
BCSI closed down 3 cents, or .2%, to $17.26.
