Sales of pickup trucks are often a sign of strength or weakness in the small business and construction sector, as these types of businesses are the most common users of these vehicles. With that in mind, today's numbers from Ford (NYSE:F) regarding F-Series sales are another strong positive signal. During the month of July, sales of the F-Series totaled just under 60,500. That represented a 22% increase over July of last year and was the highest July reading since 2006.
With this month's increase, total sales of F-series trucks for 2013 have risen to 428K. This also represents the highest year-to-date total through July since 2006's level of 469K. This morning's news is not only good news for Ford, but it also implies that the U.S. economy is clearly showing signs of strength.
