Sector Week-in-Review: Metals and Energy Strong on Flat Week

Nick Perry (Schaeffer's Investment Research) submits: Last week, we saw a snapback rally led by strong gains in networking, semiconductors, internet, and software stocks.

This week we find a slight downward bias against a mostly quiet picture:

The PowerShares Energy Exploration & Production fund took the lead along with silver. Gold and some of the other energy funds posted gains this week but most advances were relatively minor. On the downside we see that retail and housing were among the weakest groups, along with internet stocks and transports.

For a longer-term perspective, the bullets below show how the ETFs listed above have faired over the last six-months, prior to this week. In other words, it shows how they had been performing before this week's move.
