The primary areas of operations for Atwood have been the United States, the Gulf of Mexico, the Mediterranean Sea, offshore West Africa, offshore southeast Asia, and offshore Australia. The company, founded in 1968 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, currently has 1,460 full time employees. The company's fleet consists of multiple types of units, including ultra-deepwater, semisubmersibles, and jack-ups.
