For VirnetX (NYSEMKT:VHC) investors, the focus for the last few years has been on intellectual property litigation and the reexaminations of its existing patents. But the company has quietly been collecting new patents over the past couple of months. In fact, since early summer at least nine patents have been allowed by the US Patent and Trademark Office. This is an interesting development in light of the fact that none had been allowed by the USPTO since 2011, around the onset of the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) reexaminations.
