Avista Corp. (NYSE:AVA) is a small electric and natural gas utility based in the western part of USA and also provides energy management solutions through its Ecova subsidiary. The company serves almost six hundred thousand electricity and natural gas customers in the three states of Washington, Idaho and Oregon. Its principal operating subsidiary Avista Utilities generates and distributes electricity under regulated rates. The other major subsidiary Ecova is an energy management provider which provides services such as benchmarking of energy efficiency, carbon efficiency etc. I think that the stock should be avoided like a lot of the other utilities in the USA.
