Braskem S.A. (BAK) is a $6 billion company, which together with its subsidiaries, produces and sells basic petrochemicals and thermoplastic resins in Brazil and internationally. The company has three segments (four including the "US and Europe" segment): Basic Petrochemicals, Polyolefins, and Vinyls.
The Basic Petrochemicals segment (49% of 1H 2013 revenue) produces ethylene, propylene butadiene, toluene, xylene, and benzene, as well as gasoline and liquefied petroleum gas; and supplies electric energy, steam, and compressed air to second-generation producers.
