Semiconductor Manufacturing International (NYSE:SMI) is the world's fourth largest pure play foundry based in China. The company operates a number of semi wafer fabs in China, producing semiconductor components for different companies such as Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM), Broadcom (BRCM) and others. The company is a relatively small foundry when compared to the likes of TSMC (NYSE:TSM), which operates on a much larger scale.
