Semiconductor Manufacturing International (SMI) is the world's fourth largest pure play foundry based in China. The company operates a number of semi wafer fabs in China, producing semiconductor components for different companies such as Qualcomm (QCOM), Broadcom (BRCM) and others. The company is a relatively small foundry when compared to the likes of TSMC (TSM), which operates on a much larger scale.
