Darling International (NYSE:DAR) is a large recycler of waste lipids and proteins and, as such, has benefited from increased demand for biodiesel feedstocks in recent years. The company recently completed two acquisitions of additional rendering and biodiesel capacity, while its JV with Valero in renewable diesel production began operations in June. The company is positioning itself to take advantage of growing biomass-based diesel demand in the U.S., although its future earnings growth will be largely dependent on the revised Renewable Fuel Standard and continued strong demand for biofuels.
