I'm writing this update on Cinedigm (CIDM) since possibly relevant news took place this weekend.
As I wrote earlier, Cinedigm was instrumental in converting most U.S. movie theaters to digital. Right now, its business is divided between servicing those new digital cinemas in its deployment business, and moving forward with new growth initiatives beyond such legacy business, in its "non-deployment business."
In this non-deployment business, a central part of the strategy revolves around distributing third-party content both to theaters and to the home, for instance through channels such as Netflix (NFLX) or Amazon.com. It also involves buying and distributing its own content.
