Analyst Views

After conducting checks, BMO Capital analyst Gerrick Johnson said on September 15 that it believes that GI Joe sales are tracking "well below" retail plans. The firm thinks this trend could limit future reorders of GI Joe toys. "With Street expectations seemingly high for Hasbro's toys-to-movies strategy, problems with GI Joe could adversely impact investors' perception of, or expectations for, Hasbro's overall strategy," Johnson noted. He believes revenue results will be weak overall, but within expectations from the cost cutting moves. He believes the stronger dollar will continue to hurt toy makers, but expects this to be the last quarter that will occur. Analysts and investors will listen for comments on the upcoming crucial holiday season, as well as for information on pricing. Hasbro shares gained 11% in the quarter.
