NVIDIA’s (NVDA) share gain in notebook GPUs has considerably more room for growth -- some expect its share to approach 50% exiting 2006 (from 37% in 2nd quarter).

There is a high likelihood that its share could increase to above 50% with Intel’s (INTC) upcoming Santa Rosa platform (to launch in 1st half 2007), based on its initial feedback from customers, and given ATI Technologies' (ATYT) lateness with its next-generation products. In the near-term, better than expected overall notebook builds should also contribute to better GPU revenues.

Freescale Semiconductor (FSL) agreed to a takeover by private-equity firms led by Blackstone Group LP for $17.6 billion in the biggest technology buyout ever.

India has become the fastest-growing cellular market in the world, adding a net 5.9 million cellular subscribers in August, the Cellular Operators Association of India said this week. The gain outstripped China’s increase of 5.19 million subscribers.

BEA Systems (BEAS) received a Nasdaq non-compliance notice over the company's delayed Form 10-Q filing for the second-quarter ended July 31. The company said it will request a hearing before a Nasdaq panel to request continued listing on the exchange. Pending a decision by the panel, BEA shares will remain listed.
