Summer is historically unkind to retailers as shoppers focus more on beaches and books than window shopping. Institutional portfolio managers have also avoided retail this past summer, with consumer discretionary holdings at 30 large hedge funds dropping 2.15% this past quarter, according to a Reuters study.
But, with summer ending and fall approaching, foot traffic at malls is likely to pick up through the holidays, taking retail sales and apparel stocks higher.
That's good news for apparel retail chain Christopher & Banks (CBK).
