Sigh. I used to get enough junk mail to heat the whole house. Now I have to go out and buy firewood.

p.s. author could have offered some funny quip, rumor, or other non-productive comment to brighten up the article!

CC mail offers are down because CC companies do not need new business as they have found better ways to make more money by screwing existing customers with absurd inrest rate increases, more and higher fees and increased payments.

Consumers helped propel the U.S.'s economic growth in the third quarter, but unemployment and tight credit are hampering their ability to lead a sustainable recovery -- and it isn't clear what part of the economy can replace them.

this is good news despite some initial misgivings. credit card companies, in general, deserve to go out of business. they are nothing but registered loan sharks. as hard as it may seem to do, people should wean themselves from credit cards and into debit cards,

if you need impetus, just add up how much you spent on interest and other charges during the year and think what you could do with that extra money.

Could it be that card issuers have actually gotten religion, and now want customers who are actually credit-worthy, rather than just signing up everyone and their dog? But they be bothered to hire the staff to actually check on applications to see if people actually have jobs (for example), so they have to stop soliciting.
    Hallelujah.
