Apartment Investment and Management Company (NYSE:AIV), or Aimco, is a real estate management company that acquires, redevelops and runs apartment buildings in the US and currently has nearly 250,000 residents in its properties, making it one of the largest apartment operators in the country. Aimco's strategy of constant churn of its portfolio is serving it well along with the general recovery in the rental and real estate businesses, with the company having seen its shares surge from $5 following the financial crisis to $29 today.
