Most recently, after years of lagging behind the broad market, the ship transportation operators' shares have started to bounce off their bottoms. One of such a company is Navios Maritime Acquisition Corporation (NNA), the company operating in the product, chemical and oil tanker sector.
NNA was incorporated in 2008. That year the company also went public. The idea to incorporate NNA has emerged in Navios Maritime Holdings (NM) - the experienced, bulk cargo operator. The plan was simple:
- incorporate the new company
- sell a part of NM fleet to NNA
- develop the NNA business through subsequent acquisitions of new ships
