Bullish calls:
Level 3 Communications (LVLT): 'Why don't you buy ... the absolute backbone of the new internet - LVLT! That's my pick for you!'
Continental Airlines (CAL): 'We are not airline people. And, if we have to, the only one we will do is CAL, because that's got pin action off of oil.'
Freeport-McMoRan (FCX): 'FCX has a 2.5% yield; they're going to give a special dividend. It's all the way down to $51. It's the only gold and copper play that I really like ... Why don't you buy it the first day of the next day, and not before then, when the portfolio managers take you out of the stock, and bring it down to a great level.'
St. Jude Medical (STJ)
Pitney Bowes (PBI): 'You know I think it has a good yield, I think it's a slow grower.'
Intel (INTC): 'I heard that INTC's going to have an upside surprise; I'd rather see you in that. But just for a trade.'
Allstate (ALL): 'ALL is the absolute best insurance company... '
Diageo (DEO): 'DEO has got a 4% yield, it's two points off its high. It is absolutely the best in show. I can't believe it's down here.'
Schering-Plough (SGP): 'The stock had its first definitive pullback in over a month today. Technically, it's still in great shape. Fred Hassen's doing a terrific job ... I think you should do a 'mon-back if it ever got back to $20.'
Symantec (SYMC): 'I liked this stock at $16. I liked it at $17. I liked it at $20, $22...going to $25, I think it's a buy!'
Boeing (BA): 'I happen to think that BA is bottoming right here. BA's a cheap stock.'
Varian Medical (VAR)
Sigma Designs (SIGM): 'I'm going to let you pull the trigger. Please don't buy at multiple levels. And then when it goes to $19, you ring the register. When it goes to $14, you do some buying.'
Rackable Systems (RACK)
Microsoft (MSFT): 'I like MSFT. I think it goes to $30.'
USG (USG): 'Oh c'mon. Load the boat up. So is Buffet .... He's smart right.'
Automatic Data Processing (ADP): 'Oh, I like that breakup!'
Bearish calls:
Internap(INAP): 'I don't find that anything's really proprietary there.'
British Airways (BAB)
Rambus (RMBS): 'You know, this is a licensing company; it's always in litigation. I don't want that.'
Helix Energy (HLX): '...it's got the word energy in it, so you know I'm going to have to gong that ... This group is just awful.'
Progressive (PGR)
Encore Wire (WIRE): 'This for copper and electrical building. When copper was flying high, everyone was all real excited about it. I am in a totally 'don't buy, don't buy' place.'
II-VI (IIVI): 'Once again, you've got that fiber optic, telecommunication deal. 52-week high. No way am I going for that. I want you to ring the register.'
AMR (AMR): 'You've had the run of that; I want you to ring the register.'
Natus Medical (BABY)
