It seems as though all you hear about these days is the fact that prices at the pump continue to sit near record highs. While gas prices are high when looked at from a long term perspective, we would note that the average price of a gallon of gas is currently $3.36, which is down more than 11% from this year's high of $3.79. For this time of year, the current price is now the lowest since 2010.

With the holiday season fast approaching, lower prices at the pump could provide a nice boost for holiday spending.
