Commercial-scale production of biobutanol at Gevo's Luverne facility is on track to occur in early 2014 following a lengthy delay. The delay could not have come at a worse time for shareholders, however, as it caused the company to miss out on huge demand for non-ethanol biofuels in the first three quarters of 2013. Furthermore, the strong backlash against the conditions resulting in that demand has resulted in an EPA proposal to greatly reduce demand for advanced biofuels next year, creating a challenging operating market for Gevo in 2014.
