Miriam Metzinger submits: Stocks discussed in the lightning round session of Jim Cramer’s Mad Money TV program, Thursday October 5. Click on a stock ticker for more analysis:
Bullish calls:
Bank of America (BAC): 'with this bond rally, BAC is doing well. I still give it two thumbs up, way up.'
Best Buy (BBY): 'I think that stock can go still higher.'
Costco (COST): 'I was disappointed by the 4% comp numbers, but you know what? They can snap back; a lot of that was gasoline-related. I want you to stick with COST, and that's why I'm a gold star member.'
Acorda Therapeutics (ACOR): 'It's a multiple sclerosis - you can walk faster with it - drug. This thing could be gigantic. Be careful, they just did a private placement at lower than where it is.'
Silicon Image (SIMG): '52-week high, but definitely doing the right thing, but I'm not backing away, no way, no how.'
Yum! Brands (YUM): 'They've got the big China coverage; they're cheap, they're better than ever. Good quarter. Two thumbs up, way up!'
GameStop (GME): 'I'm bullish on GME, even though it's only a dollar below its 52-week high.'
Ceradyne (CRDN): 'I don't want to sell it down here, because it grows at 15% and sells at 9x earnings. But, I must admit, it is what we call a 'dead in the water' stock. It may go nowhere. For new people who are thinking about it, I would average in right here, but I would not pull the trigger big.'
Chevron (CVX): 'I think, if you need to own an oil company, I'm going to send you to CVX.'
Lennar (LEN)
Bearish calls:
Technitrol (TNL): 'We don't back up the truck for stocks that are at their 52-week high, my friend, even though this thing is just smokin' and printing up great numbers.'
Helix Energy Solutions (HLX): 'Oil and gas drill play. No can do, my friend. Use any strength to hit the exits. The group is out of favor for the rest of the year. We can revisit that maybe in March or April.'
Nektar Therapeutics (NKTR)
Sony (SNE): 'I am bearish on SNE; I am bearish on the Japanese market.'
Exxon Mobil (XOM): 'My least favorite oil, my friend. I think it's scary how it stays up here, and I don't appreciate it.'
Toll Brothers (TOL)
Red Hat (RHAT): 'No, c'mon! Lousy quarter.'
St. Joe (JOE): 'I think that they're getting out of that housing business; I think that there's a lot of swamp land there. I used to like it. I do not want to stick with STJ.'
FuelCell Energy (FCEL): 'Oh man, you're a pawn. That stock stinks. We don't like alternative energy.'
Sonus Networks (SONS)
