Here's what international transportation and delivery service, UPS, said on its call about its China business:
....Asia export volume increased 34% with China up 125%. During the quarter, we doubled our service to Shanghai with six more flights. We also announced our plans to buy out our Chinese partner's interest in our Express operations. By the end of 2005, we will control Express shipping operations in 23 Chinese business centers that collectively account for about 80% of China's GDP. With an expanded network in China, we can offer our customers enhanced services, along with the highest level of reliability in this region.
....the performance of International operations is extremely gratifying. Many years of patient investing and dedicated effort have resulted in a business that's now fine-tuned and ready to capitalize in the opportunities that global trade presents.
