Eric Savitz (Barron's) submits: ComScore on Thursday afternoon reported that Google (GOOG) increased its share of U.S. search queries in September to 45.1%, up from 44.1% in August and 43.7% in July. Ask.com, a unit of IAC-Interactive (IACI), also gained ground, increasing its share to 5.8%, from 5.5% in August and 5.4% in July.

Yahoo (YHOO)’s search query share fell to 28.1%, down from 28.7% in August and 28.8% in July.

Microsoft (MSFT)’s share slipped to 11.9% in September, from 12.5% in August and 12.8% in July.

Time Warner (TWX)’s share, representing AOL.com, was steady at 5.6%, unchanged from August, but down from 5.9% in July.

Overall, Americans conducted 6.6 billion online searches in September, up 2% from August.
