Editor and Publisher reports the newspaper industry is preparing for another punch in the gut at the end of the month.

Industry sources who have seen the numbers to be reported by the Audit Bureau of Circulation for the six months ending September 2006 say they will show a daily circulation decline of 2.5% while Sunday will drop approximately 3%, the trade magazine reported.  E&P said some publishers are making their own bad news by continuing to cull freebie distribution which advertisers don't consider valuable readership.
