On the Hunt For Quality
One of the ways to succeed in the market over a long period of time is to buy quality businesses at fair prices and hold them. It's an uncomplicated strategy which sounds easy but can often be difficult to implement for a variety of reasons. The forces of competition are fierce and many companies find their advantages eroded away by competitors or rendered obsolete over time. This is why I am a big fan of purchasing companies that have durable qualities such as a strong brand appeal, a unique monopoly, a defined niche or an otherwise competitive position within the supply chain.
