Bullish calls:
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD): 'If AMD got it together, and this acquisition - which so far has been a disaster ... of ATI Technologies... can somehow be rationalized, then I think what you have is a 'screamin' buy' - not just a buy. Buy, buy, buy! I think that there's 2 points down and 10 points up. That's a fabulous risk/reward. Let's pull the trigger AMD, right here, right now.'
Symantec (SYMC): 'Still being hobbled by Microsoft, but I think that SYMC is best of class, and that's what I want to buy.'
Rite Aid (RAD): 'People are starting to think it's a house of pain, because WMT has been rolling out this $4 drug thing. Everybody is scared of every drug store stock... My speculative stock right here, after the big knockdown, is RAD!'
SAIC (SAI): 'No, don't look. Pull the trigger! That's our favorite defense contractor, now that it has not popped to $20 yet. New IPO.'
OM Group (OMG): 'Yeah, but it's at a 52-week high stock ... we've liked specialty metals here... I think that the whole specialty metals group ... they're back, they're bigger than ever. I want to buy them.'
Allegheny Technologies (ATI)
Rockwell Automation (ROK): 'I think that they have gotten their MOJO back after a tough time. That quarter looks really good to me - I hear a guide up.'
Cummins (CMI): 'CMI is good. Buy, buy, buy!'
Caterpillar (CAT): 'We cannot let the negativity of CAT scare us out of CAT.'
Halliburton (HAL)
Whirlpool (WHR): 'I have predicted that the WHR/Maytag combine should never have been allowed by Justice, but remember what kind of Justice Department we have, which is a government of, by, and for the corporation, which allowed this anti-competitive merger and, therefore, made it two thumbs up for WHR. WHR is going to $100.'
Boston Scientific (BSX)
Johnson & Johnson (JNJ)
Rare Hospitality (RARE): 'I think that RARE is another cheap ... I like that stock. I endorse it.'
Electronic Arts (ERTS): 'Weak quarter coming. Doesn't matter! You know why? Because all that hardware's about to ship. You put half on now, and then when it blows up, and guides down, you do a 'mon-back. You will be so happy.'
Bearish calls:
Secure Computing (SCUR)
Cameco (CCJ): ' ... We were really trying to figure out what happens when there's a shortage of uranium, because CCJ's mine goes bad ... I think it makes the whole uranium industry less valuable long term ...Ring the register, particularly with oil going lower.'
Valero Energy (VLO): 'The buyback is huge, but the stock is hated. I can only fight the tape on so many names. I think VLO, at best, is dead money. At worst, you've got to sell it.'
