VeriFone's (NYSE:PAY) history of poor acquisitions and earnings misses has weighed on the market-based valuation. But VeriFone could benefit from the recent attacks of retailers by hackers. The shares have increased about 25% since the Target breach was first reported. But PAY could be set for larger gains, as it is increasingly likely that the credit card industry in the U.S. will adopt new technology. EMV, Europay, MasterCard, and Visa, creates a new code for every transaction, making it difficult for hackers to duplicate.
