This morning, I talked to Joe Kraus, the CEO and co-founder of JotSpot. I’ve talked to him in the past and have even had some video interviews.

His wiki product is certainly top-notch. After all, today Google (GOOG) bought his company.

It was about three years ago that Kraus started JotSpot. He realized that – at least in the Valley – companies were using wikis to be more effective with projects. But Kraus wanted to make wikis extremely easy to use. It definitely helped that Kraus was the co-founder of Excite (back in the early 1990s), which was built to appeal to the masses. So, he applied what he learned from Excite to JotSpot.

In fact, wikis are really starting to gain traction. For example, yesterday I talked to a startup company that is effectively using a wiki. OK, the company does not use JotSpot; rather, it uses another great product called Near-Time.

I asked the founder: “How is it going with the wiki?” He went on to extol it. It has become a part of the company’s DNA.
