Cramer's Stop Trading! 2 Financial Plays on Housing (4/12/10)

Includes: HBAN, SNV, T, VZ

Stocks discussed on Jim Cramer's Stop Trading! TV Segment, Monday April 12.

AT&T (NYSE:T), Verizon (NYSE:VZ), Huntington Bancshares (NASDAQ:HBAN), Synovus Financial (NYSE:SNV)

Cramer dismissed rumors of a double dip recession and thinks there are plenty of signs the market has "bottomed," with gold and oil prices rising, industrial producing revving up and housing looking better. Even the strong retail numbers don't seem to be taking an edge off of bearish prognostications, although Cramer thinks the Dow's surge past 11,000 broke a psychological barrier; “People do feel better about themselves” when stocks go up. “And that can counteract a lot of negativity.”

For financial plays on the housing recovery, Cramer would buy Huntington Bancshares (HBAN) and Synovus Financial (SNV); "These have been the best."

The price war between AT&T (T) and Verizon (VZ) has led to an advertising war with commercials that make denigrating comments about the competition. According to an advertising journal, the "combative tone" of these ads is going to end, and Cramer welcomed the news since the ongoing war has had a negative effect on both stocks.
