Bullish calls:
Level 3 Communications (LVLT): 'Anytime this stock goes down ('mon-back sound), because we know about the bandwidth shortage, we need to buy LVLT.'
Six Flags (SIX): 'It had a pretty good quarter. The bears spread a rumor that the real estate sale's not going well ... I think that SIX is a great spec. I hated it all the way down from $11 to $5, but now I am convinced that the bottom has been put in by the man jumping out the window, and it is a fabled triple buy. Stop being scared and start being excited. Buy, buy, buy!'
Precision Castparts (PCP): 'You know I like the airline cycle. You're talking about one of the best plays. '
Boeing (BA): 'How about that BA? Did I like BA when everybody else hated it?'
eBay (EBAY): 'Yes! I changed my mind on EBAY. There's some unbelievably good research coming out on Bear Sterns which showed that listings were actually up, year-over-year ... I think that EBAY is going higher.'
Oracle (ORCL): 'ORCL's no longer Orca, the killer stock. It's a house of pleasure!'
Merck (MRK): 'I think that MRK's going to do fine... A lot of people don't like the pipeline there. I'm not concerned. I also like that Gardasil drug.'
L-1 Identity (ID): 'This is Bob LaPenta ... I think that ID, a $16 stock - up a dollar on the acquisition - is going to $20. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. Just get to $20. Bob LaPenta!'
Trimble Navigation (TRMB)
Garmin (GRMN): 'I would rather buy GRMN [than TRMB].'
Research In Motion (RIMM): ' ... both of those [TRMB and GRMN] aren't as good as RIMM.'
JPMorgan (JPM): 'Very cheap! I've been thinking, why not buy that stock?'
Bearish calls:
Dell (DELL): 'I think you have to sell DELL, because I can't help you make money as long as you are in the house of pain!' '
Qwest Communications (Q): 'Now, you're basically in Q for its own turnaround. That will be a slower road to $10 than I would like. I am putting Q - after liking it for a long time - but, since the democrats came in - don't buy, don't buy - until it's lower.'
Opsware (OPSW): 'No on the OPSW.'
Qualcomm (QCOM): ' I think that you should not buy QCOM, because I am still uncertain about that last quarter.'
Arena Pharmaceuticals (ARNA): 'Stock is stalled. People are worried about the obesity drug.'
Crocs (CROX): 'I want to take profit in Crocs.'
Whole Foods (WFMI): 'It's a bearish story.'
OneBeacon (OB): 'Seems interesting to me but, to be honest, it's an unseasoned stock ... I can't make a decision until I see it over a couple of days.'
