Competitive Technologies, Inc. ("CTI", OTC ticker OTCQB:CTTC) was established in 1968 as a provider of patent and technology transfer and licensing services to companies with emerging products and technologies. While the company still generates a small amount of revenue from licensing certain technologies, CTI's current main focus lies with the marketing and distribution of the Calmare® pain therapy device.

Calmare is an FDA-cleared and CE Marked non-invasive medical device used for the treatment of chronic pain. While transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), efficacy of which has been the subject of significant debate, was the predicate device to gain 510(k) clearance of Calmare, the inventors of the Calmare technology believe that the method of action to achieving pain relief
