Most followers of Kodiak Oil & Gas (NYSE:KOG) are well aware of the Polar and Smokey downspacing pilot projects the company worked on throughout 2013. KOG has completed the test projects and at a presentation given at the Howard Weil Energy conference this week KOG reported comprehensive 180-day production results. While partial results have been previously reported, I preferred to wait for the availability of full 6 month production results before writing this article. I will focus on the Polar Project: 12 wells in a 1280-acre drilling spacing unit ("DSU") with 800' foot spacing between wellbores. The results are good...very good.
