Piper Jaffray on upcoming Chinese company earnings

by: Ezra Marbach

Here is what Piper Jaffray analyst
Safa Rashtchy expects of the Chinese companies reporting over the next couple of weeks:

General Comment:

....We expect China companies to report generally
strong results....

On Wireless Companies:

....We expect that the wireless sector will be in line, given the impact of
MMS in Q1 but the valuation of the wireless companies has already
discounted a very weak quarter. Furthermore, we expect that the overall
wireless environment is improving.

On Travel Companies:

....We expect the travel market to be solid and provide upside
to our estimates.....and we expect Ctrip (ticker: CTRP) to report strong
results with upside.

On Gaming Companies:

....with upside to our estimates in the online game sector.

....On a company basis, our top
are Shanda (ticker: SNDA) and NetEase (ticker: NTES), both
of which we expect to report solid upside to our estimates. We also
don't believe that the launch of World of Warcraft by The 9 (ticker: NCTY) will have material impact on these companies.

On Sina.com (ticker: SINA):

....We believe Sina is
likely to have an in-line quarter....

On Advertising:

....We also believe that advertising is likely to be
generally in line with our expectations.
