Cramer's Lightning Round - Ciena Is A Cautionary Tale (4/8/14)

by: Miriam Metzinger

Stocks discussed on the Lightning Round segment of Jim Cramer's Mad Money Program, Tuesday April 8.

Bullish Calls:

  • Generac (NYSE:GNRC): "It is a play on breakdown of the electrical grid. I'm a buyer."
  • Allegheny Technologies (NYSE:ATI), Nucor (NYSE:NUE), Timken (NYSE:TKR): "ATI's restructuring is working for them. I've always liked them. I like high-end steel. I like Nucor and Timken, which is splitting into two. I'm pro-steel and pro-aluminum."
  • Frank's International (NYSE:FI): "I've been a buyer. It has been a bad call, but I'm not backing away, because the oil and gas renaissance is real, and this is going higher."
  • Pioneer Natural Resources (NYSE:PXD): "I think it might be sitting on top of one of the biggest oil fields in the world, which is in the Permian Basin. Sell it when it is breaking out and not breaking down."
  • The Blackstone Group (NYSE:BX): "I think it is a treasure trove of a lot of value, and I'm not backing down. I've liked that one literally for a double."

Bearish Calls:

  • Ciena (NASDAQ:CIEN): "It is a cautionary tale. Our trust sold some higher, sold some lower, and it continued to go lower. It is too low to sell. I can't bear it. What a disappointment."
  • Gogo (NASDAQ:GOGO): "Maybe there is too much competition in this group. It can bounce, but I wouldn't base my portfolio on it."
