On June 17, Aetna said it sees Q2 EPS greater than current analysts’ consensus estimate of 68c. Possible contributions to the insurers Q2 EPS may come from lower medical costs.
On July 12, Aetna was downgraded to Neutral from Buy at UBS based on concerns that reform-mandated benefits will increase costs and delay margin expansion. The firm reduced its target to $30 from $38 for the shares. On July 12, Aetna was initiated with a Hold and $29 price target at Citigroup.
