Going Private Arbitrage Offers Over 70% Annualized Return With Medium Risk

The company

Through careful piecing and pinning, Hancock Fabrics has become a leading nationwide fabric chain (far behind Jo-Ann Stores). The company caters to customers (mostly women) who sew by offering fabrics, crafts, sewing machines, and accessories through some 265 stores (down from more than 400 five years ago) in about three dozen states. It also sells merchandise online. To compensate for the waning popularity of sewing clothes, the company has expanded its selection of craft and home decorating products, including drapery and upholstery fabrics and home accent pieces. Founded in 1957, Hancock Fabrics has struggled with declining sales after reorganizing and emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2008. (Source: Hoovers.com)
