Great Plains Energy Looks Expensive At Its Current Price

2013 Revenue and Earnings

Great Plains Energy Incorporated (NYSE:GXP) released its 2013 SEC 10-K Report on February 26, 2014 that showed total revenue of $2.446 billion, a 5.8% increase over its 2012 revenue of $2.310 billion. Its earnings were $1.62 per diluted common share, a 2% increase over its 2012 earnings of $1.35. On February 11, 2014, the company approved a raise of its annual dividend by 4.5% to $.92 per share (a 3.4% yield on GXP's current price of $26.63). It also announced 2014 earnings guidance at $1.60 to $1.75 per share. Full year 2013 earnings handily beat MSN Money's analysts expectations.
