1.- Conflict in Ukraine
The escalation of the conflict on February 25th, when gunmen took over the Congress Building in Crimea seemed to unhinge Russian markets. Under the supervision of the gunmen that same day, there was a voting session which elected a Russian Unity Government. Next, alleged Russian forces took over airports, ports and roads... and so it all goes.
The Ukrainian horizon hasn't cleared yet and, as we speak, there are reports of Ukrainian fighter jets bombing cities and pro Russian rebels downing choppers and sinking gunboats (link). All the while the death toll keeps rising. Several rounds of sanctions have been passed, mostly focused on Russian individuals. And some Western corporates have become very cautious...
