Cramer's Stop Trading! Will Apple See a Short Squeeze? (9/16/10)

Includes: AAPL, BBRY, CHK
by: Miriam Metzinger

Stocks discussed on Jim Cramer's Stop Trading! TV Segment, Thursday September 16.

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), Research in Motion (RIMM), Chesapeake Energy (NYSE:CHK)

Research in Motion (RIMM), a heavily shorted stock "no one cares about" reported its earnings on Thursday after the bell, but any reaction to RIM is likely to be overshadowed by the overseas release of Apple's iPad. RIM has been a hated stock, and Cramer might usually consider such a situation a buying opportunity, but in this case, Apple is stealing so much fire from RIM, it is not worth buying the latter stock. Cramer thinks the potential of Apple's reaching $279 might cause a "short squeeze of incredible proportions."

Concerning energy, Cramer said Chesapeake Energy (CHK) is the only natural gas stock he is endorsing.
