by: Miriam Metzinger

Stocks discussed on the Lightning Round segment of Jim Cramer's Mad Money Program, Thursday July 17.

Bullish Calls:

  • Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC): "It is down 3 points from where it reported. I think you should buy that."
  • ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP): Cramer prefers it to Chesapeake.
  • Suncor Energy (NYSE:SU), EOG Energy (NYSE:EOG): "SU is a great energy situation. I prefer EOG, but I'm not going to tell anyone to sell Suncor."
  • BP (NYSE:BP): "It is one of the few oil companies that is caught up with Russia. It is very inexpensive...but it is the company that is the most levered to Russia I deal with, so I have to drop back and see how things shake out."

Bearish Calls:

  • DirecTV (DTV): "DTV is kind of done. I think it is a terrific situation, but you have to take the money and move on. You should find the next DirecTV."
  • Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB): "It is like Garmin without the extra bells and whistles, and it doesn't have a dividend. I am not a fan of Trimble. You should go."
  • Chesapeake Energy (NYSE:CHK): "That is okay. There are others that are better. I would go with ConocoPhillips."
  • New York Community Bancorp (NYSE:NYCB): "There are so many high-quality bank stocks out there. Wells Fargo is down 3 points from where it reported. I think you buy that."
  • Yahoo (NASDAQ:YHOO): "The conference call was disappointing. It may be a buy cheaper, but the stock is not delivering."
