Hedge Fund Takes on 5.1% Stake in M&F Worldwide

In a 13D filing after the close Friday (Dec. 29, 2006) on M & F Worldwide Corp. (MFW), Bay Harbour Management disclosed a 5.1% stake (1.04 million shares) in the company.

In a standard disclosure, the firm said they currently have no plan or proposal which relates to, or would result, in any of the events or transactions described in Item 4(a) through (j) of Schedule 13D, although they reserve the right to formulate such plans or proposals in the future.

On December 20, M & F Worldwide entered into an agreement to acquire John H. Harland Company (JH) in a deal worth approximately $1.7 billion.
