In a recent article by The Hollywood Reporter, WGN America's president Matt Cherniss said in an interview he thought the biggest misconception about his network was that "people thought they were a local Chicago station, not a national cable network."
Over the last few months, Cherniss and his team at Tribune Broadcasting (TRBAA) have taken a large step in fixing that problem thanks to the network's new focus on original programming. The other night, WGN America debuted Manhattan, its second dramatic offering, and while it may not have topped its predecessor, it still made a statement.
